What Is It?
Conference calling is effectively 'a meeting on the phone'. Most meetings can be held just as effectively over the phone as they can in person, and telephone conferences eliminate costly overheads such as travel expenses and overnight accommodation bills.
How Does It Work?
All callers in a conference dial the same Messaging Ltd 0844 580 55 33 phone number and are connected together by the use of a PIN.
The conference organiser makes up the PIN to be used on a conference call (6-9 digits) and distributes it along with the Messaging Ltd 0844 580 55 33 number and the conference start time to the other conference participants.

The Messaging Ltd conference calling service is available 24/7, there are no restrictions on call duration, however the system currently defaults at 50 callers on any one conference. It is not recommended that a system such as this be used for conferences of more than 50 callers.
During a conference call, features available include name recording on entering a call, roll call, muting and conference locking.
Charges - it only costs you the price of a phone call. No fee or charge is made to setup a call or for the use of the Messaging Ltd instant voice conferencing service. That's right, no fees or charges - ever! Everyone dialling in to a conference call pays for their own phone call, typically 5p/min from BT landlines (costs for calls from mobiles may vary), from anywhere in the UK (Calling From Outside the UK? - Callers from outside the UK can join your conference call by dialling the number for their country (below) or 00 44 870 22 33 533. International call charges will apply), for as long as they're on the call. These are the only charges anyone ever pays and they appear on your phone bill in the same way as any other call.

What Do I Need?
All the participants require is a telephone. Participants call the Messaging Ltd 0844 580 55 33 number at the agreed time, enter the organiser's PIN when prompted, record their names and are then free to use the Messaging Ltd conference call service for as long as they choose.
Instructions
1. Choose your PIN
Make up your own PIN number, which should be between 6 and 9 digits long. The PIN number is used to connect your callers to your conference call. Use a number you can remember easily - part of your own phone number is fine.
2. Tell your fellow conference call delegates what they need to know
In order to participate in a conference call they need to know three things:
- What time they should join the call
- The Messaging Ltd conference call number - 0844 580 55 33
- Your PIN number
3. Making the call
At the agreed start time dial the Messaging Ltd conference call number 0844 580 55 33. You will be asked for your PIN number and then your name. If you are the first person to arrive on the conference call you will hear music. As others arrive on the call you will hear them being announced. When there are at least two people on the call you are ready to start talking!
In Conference Controls
During a conference the following controls are available to all participants:
Mute - Pressing the '6' key will mute and unmute your handset. This is very useful if you are in a noisy location. Muting means that you can hear the rest of the conference but they cannot hear anything from your handset.
Participant Review - The participant review keys are '#1' and '#2'. '#1' will allow you to review the number of people on the conference call. '#2' will initiate a roll call – where all of the names recorded when the callers arrived on the system are replayed. All participants will hear the number of people and the roll call.
Locking a Conference - To lock or unlock a conference call press '3'. Locking a conference call stops anyone else from joining the conference call.
Ending a Conference - When you have finished your conference call, simply hang up. As each person hangs up you will hear their name announced. When the last person hangs up, the conference call is ended.
